Michigan Tuesday

  Irish fans,

Happy Tuesday, one and all!  Well, as happy a Tuesday as it can be when you come back from a three day weekend.

Gameday is growing ever closer, so it's time to see what the University of Michigan looks like when they take the field.  They're a tough team, and very good at closing out tough game

Against Colorado:

and against Texas:

and Mississippi State (victors over UM, 52-14, in the Gator Bowl), a school which carries Cowbells to games

and uses its library for raves:

On second thought . . . not really.  Also, please ignore the fact that Rae Carruth plays for Colorado in this video clip.  And no need to watch past the two minute mark in said Colorado clip.

Heck, even when they're winning the occasional game against the Ohio State University, they can't help but screw up.  Observe:

But as I'm sure you can tell, the Colorado segment is an old video clip.  People haven't worn shoddy helmets like that, or those hairstyles, in over a decade.  The people in that game look almost as outdated as the North Carolinians in this hot, Hot, HOT video:

which was made IN THE YEAR 2005.  If you can't stand watching the thing after the first few seconds, just read this deconstruction of the ad put together by a U. of Florida english major.

Worst promo video ever

Now you may be asking "why are there two blurbs about a I-AA school called Appalachian State in the middle of a Michigan rant?"  Well, in 2007, #5 Michigan aid ASU approximately $200,000 to serve as its tune-up game before facing mighty Oregon.  A number of Vegas sports books refused to offer lines on the game, and 99% of voters believed Michigan would win.  Then, this happened:

Yes, Michigan lost to Appalachian State:

Needless to say, Michigan's fellow B1G members took this loss poorly, as it made the B1G look bad.  And this was before the SEC's current reign of terror.  Just look at the reaction to the score from Michigan State!

Hmm.  Well, maybe that's cause they're an in-state rival.  Let's look at the first 45 seconds from the fine folks at Penn State!

Well that's cause they can't beat Michigan to save their lives.  Surely Michigan's oldest rival, the Ohio State University, has some sympathy for their humiliated foe!

It appears the man from Ohio really does Hate Michigan.

More on Michigan itself tomorrow.  Prepare yourselves for Michigan Men(tm): A Retrospective.
