Fine, I'll spill the beans. The above teams are the only teams who are worse than Air Force at total defense.
They are ranked 117, 118, 119, 119, 121, 122, and 123 in the country, respectively, in yards surrendered on average in each game. Air Force beats them all, giving up only 488 yards per game to its foes.
Every other team in the country, all 115 of them, is better than Air Force at defense. When told of this fact, the Notre Dame coaching staff reacted like so:
