ASU Thursday

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Hello again.  It’s been a while, because frankly, that was an awful game.

Pictured: Notre Dame's championship hopes.

Down 14-0 in the first five minutes.  Followed by a slow, grinding destruction by Oklahoma.  56 glorious years of beatings down the drain in one afternoon.  Followed by the alma mater controversy.  By Sunday morning it was enough to drive a blogger to despair.

The Backer, Saturday night.

But then I learned Lane Kiffin was fired at Los Angeles Airport and replaced by Ed Orgeron.  So everything got better.

And yes, now we have to play the same team that throttled Southern Cal, scoring 62 points on a previously impermeable defense.  Why ASU of all teams held back and didn’t go for 69 at the end of the game is an utter mystery.  But I know despite their high powered offense, we can beat these people with our balanced offense.  Because judging by this gif:

Balance, and a simple desire to not run each other over, is something ASU lacks.

I’ll make up for lost time tomorrow.  In the meantime, enjoy this theme music.
